KORN Frontman JONATHAN DAVIS: First Solo Date Revealed?
December 31, 2006The first unconfirmed date of KORN frontman Jonathan Davis' solo tour has been revealed, according to Korn-Locker.com. Davis will reportedly hit Las Vegas, Nevada on Thursday, February 1 for an appearance at the 3121 club. The show will be part of a small casino tour featuring Davis accompanied by a backup band.
"I'm gonna do it more in the style of a lounge thing," Davis told MTV.com back in October. "I'll be playing KORN songs, the 'Queen of the Damned' [soundtrack] stuff I did and a lot of different covers. When I was growing up, my dad played in a couple of bands where they just went around different clubs and played covers. It's just going to be fun."
Although he's venturing outside of KORN for the tour, Davis has no plans for a solo album.
"The closest thing [I've done to a solo album] was the 'Queen of the Damned' stuff and if I were to [record something solo] again, it'd be something like that," Davis said. "Maybe some day when it's right, but I don't want to distract from KORN. I don't want people to think there's problems with the band. I'm just trying to have fun while the other guys are relaxing or working on their own records or whatever."
KORN leads the list of bands appearing on the "Family Values Tour 2006" CD and DVD, which arrived in stores this past Tuesday, December 26. Both feature live tracks from all the acts on this past summer's tour, including DEFTONES, STONE SOUR, FLYLEAF, 10 YEARS and the headliners.
KORN is currently writing and recording material for its eighth studio album. An MTV "Unplugged" performance taped earlier this month will be broadcast and released on CD in February.
The band also announced this month that drummer David Silveria is taking a "temporary hiatus" from recording and touring. A fill-in has yet to be named.
